Obituary of Billy Gene Stremsterfer

Blountville - Billy G. Stremsterfer, 82 of Blountville, passed from this life on Friday, December 6, 2013 at Indian Path Medical Center. Born in Springfield, Illinois, Billy served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Korean War. He retired from Holston Defense after 29 years of service and was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church. He enjoyed many things including water color painting, building projects, bicycling, golfing, fishing, racing homing pigeons and hiking. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Helen Brinkmeyer Stremsterfer. Billy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pansy Allen Stremsterfer of Blountville; daughters, Brenda Hobbs and husband Eddie of Atlanta and Elesha Wankel and husband Daniel of Kingsport; son, Alan Stremsterfer and wife Lisa of Alcoa, TN; grandchildren, Jennifer and Josh Melton of Atlanta and Brandon Stremsterfer of Alcoa; step grandchildren, Lisa Davidson of Blountville and Beth Street of Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating. Music will be provided by Wayne Bledsoe. A military graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with the American Legion Post 3/265 conducting the rites. Pallbearers will be family and friends. The family would like to extend a special heart-felt thanks to the medical staff at Indian Path Medical Center, 4th and 7th floors.
