Obituary of Hughie Broadwater

Nickelsville - Hughie "Hoot" Broadwater 86, of Nickelsville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at his residence following a short illness. He was a lifelong resident of Scott County and a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Didgeon and Lillie Kilgore Broadwater; brothers, Oliver, J.D., Fred and Rod Broadwater. Hoot is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Alice Broadwater; his daughters, Peggy Marshall-Seiber and husband Ed Seiber and Nancy Culbertson and husband Larry; sons, Marty Broadwater and wife Karen, Howard Broadwater and wife Janet and Bill Broadwater; sisters, Ann Daugherty and Lois Rose; brother, Jerry Broadwater and wife Ruth; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Henry Wayne Meade officiating. Music will be provided by Bobby Hillman. Burial will follow in Nickelsville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh Marshall, Jake Marshall, Michael Culbertson, Nathaniel Culbertson, Jonathan Broadwater and James Broadwater. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nickelsville Cemetery Fund, 11606 Nickelsville Hwy, Nickelsville, VA 24271.
