Obituary of Jerry Allen Vicars

Jerry Allen Vicars, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday October 24, 2013 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was at home surrounded by family when he won his battle. He served our country in the U.S. Army. He founded Professional Welding Co., Inc. in 1979 after retiring early from Mason Dixon Tank Lines. He prided himself in hard work, integrity and honesty. He was a faithful husband, extraordinary father and grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was a member of the Promise Apostolic Church in Church Hill, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Vicars and Hazel Baldwin Vicars; several brothers and sisters. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Claris Ann Vicars; his son, Michael Allen Vicars and his wife Jennifer Rebekah Vicars; two grandsons, Micah Chase Vicars and Isaac Kallen Vicars; brothers, Jimmy Vicars, Ronnie Vicars, David Vicars and Gary Vicars; sisters, Peggy Sutherland, Betty Burchette, Brenda Alder, Connie Gilmer; along with many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Highway 11-W, Church Hill. A celebration of life service will follow at 8 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jonathan Lovelace and Associate Pastor (his son) Michael Allen Vicars officiating. Eulogies will be provided by Larry Ragsdale, Joe Herron, Ernest Thomas and his grandsons. Music will be provided by The Promise. An entombment will be held at 11 am on Sunday October 27, 2013 at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be employees of Professional Welding Co., Inc. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill is serving the Vicars family.
