I also served with Fred, we all called him Nuck, with the 583rd Ord Co in Dahn Germany.
We were 'bunk mates', lived in the same quarters. What I remember most was his Southern humor. He has a saying for almost anything you can think of. Like Charlie said I am so glad we got to be with him the summer of 2009. Is a long drive from St Louis but the experience was something no amount of money could buy. He will certainly be missed. THE WHOLE WORLD LOST A GOOD FRIEND ON OCTOBER 18. I for 1 will never forget him. I beleive he has finally found peace after many years of suffering. He never let it show. Faye everyone that served with Fred in Germany is at your dispoable any time you may ever need something.

I was stationed with Fred in the 583rd, Dahn, Germany and it was a very SPECIAL time for all of us to share that experience. I thank Lannie Rotili for getting some of us back in contact after all the years. Fred was a nice guy and will surely be missed by all that knew him at the 583rd.

I pray that the remorse that you feel right now will be buffered and quieted by the knowing that you will see him again. The great promise of God is that the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, we who believe have that same Spirit living in us and we will also be raised with him.
I'm sorry for your loss and through emails have been brought close to the Nuckle family in these last years. I found Fred to be pleasant company and unoffensive when I knew him in the Army.

I served with Fred in Dahn, Germany, 583Ord. Company. Fred was a great guy. He left me the community record player, when he left for the states. Everyone in the company got a lot of enjoyment from the gift. My thoughts and prayers are with you and you family.

It's during these times we need a double portion of our Lord's grace and comfort.
No words can ever express the pain and hurt of losing a loved one. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort you and give you strength in the days ahead. It will be the little things that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again.

I will deeply miss him.
I was so, so glad to see him in June 2009, thanks to John Beyer's many attempts to locate him. I never thought I would see Nuckles again after I left Germany in 1963. He was a really nice guy. Always smiling, always had a nice word for everyone, just so friendly! I just enjoyed being around him. The next time I see him will be in Heaven.

Fred and I were casual email buddies, I enjoyed many funny emails which in turn I forwarded to other friends.
My husband Kirk J Olson, who passed away 5 years ago this October 27, was stationed in Hinterweidenthal, Germany with Fred in the 583 Ord Co.
I still email regularly with a few of the guys from the 583. Something Kirk had started and I continued during his brief illness.-
Please accept my heart felt sympathy in the loss of your loved one.
Sincerely,
Eva-Maria Olson
