Obituary of Christine Carter

Christine Carter, 86, of Mount Carmel, departed this life to sing in God's heavenly choir on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at her home. God got a great Choir leader and servant when he got our Mom. Mother loved the outdoors and was very active. She worked at J.C. Penny's for 17 years, was an Avon sales rep. for 56 years and was a member of Community United Methodist Church. Mother never met a stranger, loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She played softball, bowled and loved to be around people. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Carter; her mother and father, Charles and Alice Kilbourne; sisters, Joan Golden and Kathy Phillips; brothers, Jim Kilbourne and Edward Kilbourne; special sister-in-law, Evelyn Carter and her favorite nephew, Kennie (Littleman) Carter Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Virginia and Chuck; sons, Dean and Bea, Paul and Marsha, Bryan Dale and Burita and Darrell and Dee; nieces, Margaret McCue and Frank of Arizona, Genne and Gerry of the UK; grandchildren, Nikki Carter, Andrew Carter, Kimberly Marcus and Josh, Brandy Gobel and Nate, Bryan Carter and Rachel, Brandon Carter and Laura; great grandchildren, Brett Marcus, Justice Lewis, Aalyiah Carter, Ashlyn Carter; her favorite niece, Phyllis Carter; Dr. Ava Carter and Jim; all of her bowling and softball friends; plus her loving cat, "Sandy" and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the chapel with Pastor Charles Kilbourne, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 12 noon on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Jim Carter, Brett Marcus, Brandon Carter, Bryan Carter, Dale Carter and Justice Lewis. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50 am.
