Obituary of Nelle Jane Lawson

Nelle Olinger Lawson, 89, of Hiltons, VA passed away on Friday, Sept. 6. 2013. at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late James Milum Olinger and Inez Warner Olinger of Blackwater, VA and was preceded in death by her husband Charles Emmett Lawson, Sr. Nelle taught school at Hiltons Elementary for almost forty years and dearly loved the school and its students. After retiring, she enjoyed working at her church and in her yard. She is survived by her four children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren: Sonja and Jim Holcomb of Bluff City, TN, and their three sons, Will Holcomb of Bluff City, Matt and Minouche Holcomb of Asheville, NC and their two sons, Finn and Sam, and Brett and Anna Holcomb of San Jose, CA; Charles and Marsha Lawson of Gate City, VA and their two children, Melissa (Missie) and Charlie Brown of Charlotte, NC and Neeley and Melissa Lawson of Burbank, CA and their son Shane ; Sharon Lawson and Sandy Lawson of Hiltons, VA. Also surviving is her loyal and patient friend, Janelle Spears of Hiltons, VA. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Scott County Funeral Home. A service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Will Shewey officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hiltons United Methodist Church in Hiltons, VA.
