Obituary of Lawrence E. Dean
Lawrence E. Dean
Kingsport - Lawrence E. Dean, 90 of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Lee County, Virginia, he had been a resident of Kingsport most of his life.
Lawrence was a veteran WWII serving in the U.S. Air Force and was a POW in Germany. He retired as a turbine operator from Mead Corporation in 1990 following 44 years of service. He was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Frances McCurry Dean; his parents, Isaac and Salina Hughes Dean; sister, Ova Harrison; brothers, Gale Dean, Ray Dean, Jimmy Dean, Wayne Dean, Jackie Dean and Richard "Dickie" Dean.
Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Brenda Dean Morea of the home; son, Steven Dean and wife Kim of Kingsport; grandchildren, Ashlee Johnson and husband Aaron of Kingsport; great-grandson and the joy of his life, William "Will" Isaac Johnson; sisters, Wilma Bartley and Thelma Jo Jennings both of Kingsport; sisters-in-law, Ramona Dean, Eula Dean, Joyce Dean, Patsy Dean, Ella Dean, Judy Dean, Lavene Johnson and JoAnn McCurry all of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Stout and Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Military Graveside Rites will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Memorial Park by the American Legion Post 3/265. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Rolling Thunder.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
