Obituary of Robert Arthur Jones

Robert A. "Tiny" Jones, 85 of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 16, 2013 at his residence following a battle with cancer. He was born in Charleston, WV and had lived most of his life in Kingsport. Robert was a U. S. veteran having served in both the Army and the Navy. He was retired and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Nevada Tilley Jones; his son, Timothy Jones; his parents, Robert and Hester Hogan Jones; sisters, Deloris Graham, Louise Jones and Gladys Reeves; brothers, Donald Jones, Ralph Jones and Harold Jones. Robert is survived by his daughters, Mary Ann Trivett, Mary Taylor, Diane Oquinn, Betty Sue Babulski and Rebecca Billings; son, David Billings; grandchildren, Michael Skiscim, John Skiscim, Kristina Cook, Amanda Thompson, Jeremiah Farmer, Angie Kennedy, Missy Farmer, Lana Harrell, Dreama Billings, Karrie Hook and Coty Oquinn; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy McDonald and Bernadine Gross; several nieces and nephews; special friend of 20 years, Sid Darnell. The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport, TN. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor James Hagy and David Townsend officiating. A military graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the American Legion Post 3/265 conducting the rites. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Michael Skiscim, John Skiscim, Tony Cook, Jeremiah Farmer, Jeff Tipton and Bill Oquinn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 508 Princeton Rd, Johnson City, TN 37601. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport is serving the Jones family.
