Obituary of Carroll William Marshall

Carroll "Fuzz" William Marshall, 81, went to be with his Heavenly Father on the morning of August 8, 2013. He was born on December 12, 1931 in the Goshen Valley community of Hawkins County. He lived in Church Hill, raising his family and developing many friendships throughout the area. He retired from Eastman Kodak in 1991 after thirty-four years of employment. Previously, he served his country as an Airman in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, while stationed in Greenland and Colorado as a fireman. He enjoyed his retirement years, as he was able to socialize more with the many friends and neighbors that he loved. He looked forward to his daily routine of visiting Hardee's very early in the morning, followed by a trip to Patsy's Bakery, then a spell at the Mountaineer Restaurant and Church Hill Exxon, and ending with a visit with the good people at Carter-Trent Funeral Home. He loved people and loved helping people. One of his favorite hobbies was tinkering around in his building. As he entered Heaven, his dearly departed wife, Joyce Buchanan Marshall, met him with open arms. Born to Hayes William Marshall and Bessie Rhodenia Wagner, Fuzz was blessed to have been the "baby" of a family that included thirteen children. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ola Campbell, Clara Skelton, Grace Harris, Chassalee Marshall, Lucy Arnold, Roberta Marshall, Rosella Marshall, and Marie Marshall; brothers, Earnest, Troy, and Grady Marshall; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Francis and Rassie Buchanan. Mr. Marshall is survived by two daughters, Teresa Marshall Bellamy and her husband, Scott, of Buckhannon, West Virginia, and Karen Marshall Pearson and her husband, David, of Rogersville, TN; four grandsons, Keegan Pearson, Spencer Pearson, Matthew Bellamy and Daniel Bellamy. Also surviving him are his big brother Ray Marshall, mother-in-law Leona Buchanan, and special nieces; Nina Ketron, Hilda King and Doris Gaw; along with his nephews, neighbors, and his many friends from the Church Hill community. Baptized as a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill, he enjoyed his Sunday school class and worship services and attended until he was no longer able. The many prayers on his behalf were greatly appreciated by him and his family. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 on Monday, August 12, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Church Hill, or friends may also call or visit any time at the residence. Services will be conducted Monday at 7:00P.M in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Gerhardt and Associate Pastor Mitch Russell, officiating. A military graveside service will be conducted by the Hawkins County Color Guard at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, August 13 at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Mike Marshall, David Pearson, Scott Bellamy, Ron Bellamy, Matthew Bellamy and Keegan Pearson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Alley, Joe Marsh, Larry Gaw, Dane Simpson, Jerry Wolfe, Wallace Ketron, Ernie Marshall, Charles King, Jimmy and Bill Marshall, Wally, Phil Ketron and his great nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Church Hill, 202 East Main Blvd., Church Hill, TN 37642 or to the donor's choice.
