Bill Steadman
Blountville - William D. "Bill" Steadman, 89, of Blountville passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army, having served during WWII . He retired from the Mead Corporation after over 40 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Delora Montgomery Steadman; parents, George Kirk Steadman, Sr. and Myrtle Barger Steadman; brothers, Harry Steadman, Howard Steadman, and Lee Steadman.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Harr Steadman of the home; son, David Steadman and wife, Deana of Kingsport; grandchildren, twins, Whitney and Drew Steadman of Kingsport; sister, Carrie Steadman Laroy of Rogersville; brothers, G. K. Steadman of Church Hill, Ronald Steadman of Kingsport, and Carl Steadman of Whitesburg; along with several nieces and nephews and a special great nephew, Jeremy Steadman.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 3 pm on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.
A service will be held at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Keith Barker officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Pat Steadman, Danny Steadman, Jerry Steadman, Mike Steadman, Barry Steadman, George Steadman, Roy Howard Early, Kirk Loudy, Jeremy Steadman, Jimmy Tatum, and Ralph Norris.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Steadman.
