Obituary of Clyde Lamar Tootle

Clyde Lamar Tootle, 84 passed away and went to be with his heavenly father on Thursday, July 18, 2013 after a long and fulfilling life. He was a Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport. He was born in Tampa, Florida on November 18, 1928. He attended the public schools in Tampa, Florida. On graduation from High School, he joined the service and served with the 11th Airborne Division in Japan. After discharged, he graduated from Florida State University. He then worked as a state chemist with the Florida Department of Agriculture in Tallahassee, Florida. He left Florida and worked in the U.S. Patent and Trade Office in Washington D.C., attended Washington College of Law and graduated with a Law Degree. He left Washington and worked for NASA in Hampton, Virginia on Liquid Propulsion Systems for Space Travel, and later with the Army Missile Command in Huntsville, Alabama on Solid Propellant Systems for nuclear missiles. He left Alabama and was employed by Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York, and later transferred to Kingsport, Tennessee. After many years, he retired from Kodak and opened a Legal Office in Kingsport where he practiced law in Tennessee and Virginia until he retired a second time, this time from the Tennessee and Virginia Bar Associations. After retirement, he enjoyed a simple and fulfilling life. He was preceded in death by his Father, E. Clyde Tootle; Mother Lelah A. Tootle; and an infant son, David C. Tootle. He is survived by his loving companion, Imogene J. Bailey; mother of his children, Marian L. Tootle; son, Mark S. Tootle and wife, Lois, daughters, Lynda Waldron, Adrian Cassady, Amanda Barnette, Melissa Tootle and Karen Tootle; grandson, Paul Waldron; granddaughters, Lauren Tootle, Leslie Cassady and Christy (Tootle) Clark and husband, Levi; great-grandson, Liam Clark. The family will receive friends from 10 am to 11 am on Friday July 26, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will be held at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ron Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN with military rites by American Legion Post 3/265. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Tootle family.
