Obituary of Edward Dean Winegar

Edward Dean Winegar, 58, of 1681 Caney Valley Loop, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday night (July 9, 2013) at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County. Ed worked at the Kingsport Press in Hawkins County for 32 years. He was a loving husband, father, papaw, and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mavis Gamble Winegar; two brothers, Lynn Winegar and Toot Winegar; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mitchell and Edna Ramey Thacker; brothers-in-law, Howard Thacker and Bobby Stokes; a sister-in-law, Lucille Winegar; his nephew, Tristan Toler. Edward Winegar is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Judy Thacker Winegar; sons,, D.J. and Amanda Winegar and Andrew Winegar; a daughter, Edna Winegar (all of Surgoinsville); a step daughter, Christian Hunley; four grandchildren, Rebecca (Honeybun) Winegar, Corey (Punkin) Winegar, Bentley Hunley, and Aiden Foulk; his sister, Verna Stokes; brothers, Ralph and Shirley Winegar, Paul and Juanita Winegar, Don and Kathy Winegar, Rick and Penny Winegar (all of Surgoinsville); his special pet, "Herman" along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Friday (July 12, 2013) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday (July 13, 2013) at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Neil Drinnon, Rev. Richard Watts, and Rev. Alonzo Collins, officiating. Music will be provided by Debbie Trent and Rev. Alonzo Collins. A graveside service will follow at Winegar Cemetery (Caney Valley Loop) with D.J. Winegar, Matt Thacker, Mike Thacker, Jerry Thacker, David Winegar, Jody Winegar serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Willie Thacker and Wayne Winegar. A special thank-you goes out to Amedisys Hospice especially Kristy Bledsoe, and to the Kingsport Hematology and Oncology Group for the special care given to Edward Winegar.
