Obituary of Carla Casteel Carter

CARLA CASTEEL CARTER Kingsport- Carla Casteel Carter, 46, of Rogersville, passed away from an apparent heart attack Thursday (June 13, 2013) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. She lived in Sullivan County the majority of her life having resided in Rogersville for the past seven years. Carla was a graduate of Sullivan North High School in 1986. She loved to work on Saturdays selling vegetables at the Kingsport Famers Market. She was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paris and Geneva Casteel; a brother, Dennie Casteel. Carla Carter is survived by her sisters, Faye Ward and Diane Smith; a brother, Carl Casteel (all of Kingsport, TN); her special niece, Angie Stanley (Colonial Heights, TN); special nephews, Chris Ward (Boones Creek, TN) and Kevin Smith (Blountville, TN) along with several additional nieces and nephews; her special great niece, ShayLee Stanley and a special great nephew, Peyton Stanley; her special friend, Charles (Goob) Frazier (Rogersville, TN). A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday (June 18, 2013) at 7 p.m. at the residence of her sister, Faye Ward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Carla Carter Memorial Fund, c/o Faye Ward at any First Tennessee Bank locations. A special thanks goes out to Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center ER staff, ICU staff, and especially to Dr. Starr for the special care given to Carla.
