Obituary of Harley Franklin Ball

Harley Franklin Ball, 88, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, June 6, 2013 at Brookhaven Manor. Harley was a member of Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a retired employee of Eastman Kodak with 36 years of service as a welder. Harley was well known for his metal and iron working skills and inventions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie McCann Ball; parents, William Johnson Ball and Lula Virginia Harris Ball; sisters, Ethel Place, Ilene Harkleroad, Rosa Olin and Eula Light; brothers, Acie Ball and Virgil Ball. He is survived by his sons, James E. Ball and wife Peggy of Kingsport, Clyde Denver Ball of Mountain City and Gary L. Ball and wife, Kathy of Kingsport; daughters, Donna Seaver and husband James (Clete) of Kingsport and Phyllis Ann Blackwell and husband Elmer, Jr. of Fall Branch; ten grandchildren, Scarlett Rhoton, Heather Dillon, Chad Ball, Jerome Ball, Michael Seaver, Tammy Castle, Vicki Sensabaugh, Jesse Ball, Kristin Queen and Steven Blackwell; seventeen great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm on Friday June 7, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will follow at 7 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Everett Lett officiating. Music will be provided by Robin Britt. A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday June 8, 2013 at East Lawn Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Ball family.
