Obituary of Thelma Brooks

On the cool morning of June 2nd, Thelma Venus Brooks, of Kingsport left this earth to be with her husband, Carl Brooks, whom passed away 9 years earlier. She passed away following a strong battle at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport. Thelma leaves behind her two brothers, Mr. Ellis Rhoton and Mr. Doc Rhoton; her sister, Mrs. Shirley Taylor; three children Mr. Dwayne Brooks & wife Debbie, Mrs. Denise Welch & husband Ricky, and Ms. Diana Brooks; seven grandchildren Chris Brooks, Ryan Brooks, Aaron Welch, Michael Brooks, Natasha Frost, Mariah Payne, Erica Greer, as well as several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7 pm in the chapel with Rev. Timothy Rhoton, officiating. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Cemetery, Mary Street, Kingsport. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:45 am. Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport is serving the Brooks family.
