Obituary of Louella S. Hall

Louella S. Hall took her final step to her eternal home early Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Life Care of Cleveland, TN to join those who had gone before her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Emory H. Hall, who passed after a long, brave battle with cancer on June 4, 2005 in Cleveland, TN. Also preceding her was her mother, Leona Hammond Sumner, in Atlanta, GA; by her only sister and brother-in-law, Mary S. and Curtis Gray in Griffin, GA; by her grandparents, Rev. James Melvin and Mary Abigail Thompson Hammond, who helped raise her and her sister, Mary, along with an aunt and uncle, Anna Belle Salyer and Thomas "Tee" Taft Hammond. She was also preceded by two uncles, Pvt. Robert Hammond and Sgt. Hagan Hammond. Louella was a born again Pentecostal Christian most of her life. She faithfully taught Sunday school for several years including all age groups. She also worked in the youth department and any other place she was needed. She is survived by one daughter, Jewel Mae and husband, Dr. Herbert S. Frazier, Sr, of Cleveland, TN; one son, Dr. Wm. Kenneth Hall, Sr. and wife, Patsy Moody Hall, of Graham, NC., she had three grandsons, Rev. Herbert "Chip" Frazier, Jr. and wife, Lisa Erickson-Frazier, of Chattanooga, TN, B. Christopher Frazier of Cleveland, TN and Rev. Wm. Kenneth Hall, Jr. and wife, Kari, of Chapel Hill, NC and granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Hall of Mebane, NC. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren, J.T., Calah, Abby and husband, Terry Tipton, Bekah, and Lydia Frazier of Cleveland, TN and Ingrid Hall of Charlotte, NC and one great grandson, Jude Oliver Tipton of Cleveland, TN. Also surviving are five cousins she was raised with, Ross Hammond, Clifford Hammond, Marie Haney, David Hammond all of Florida and their brother, Jack Hammond and wife, Jeannie of California. She leaves three adopted family members, Ruby Rogers of Gate City, VA and Sharon Grover and son, Brian of Chattanooga, TN. Louella was involved with American Institute of Banking as a member of the Board of Directors, Secretary, Vice-President and President, and received awards for her work by American Institute of Banking. She worked most of her life for various businesses, US Post Office, Riggs Bros. Construction, Lab Glass, J.C. Penny, Belks and Holston Defense. She attended E.T.S.U. and Whitney Business College while working full-time. The family will have a visitation from 10 am - 11 am Friday, May 31, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home 520 Watauga St., Kingsport, TN. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leighton Roberts as the minister. She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice. We give our heartfelt thanks to Rev. Wendell Smith, Sr., Adult Pastor at Westmore Church of God, Cleveland, TN for his visits and prayers; the nursing staff at Dalton Place in Chattanooga, TN while in hospice; the staff at Morningside of Cleveland Assisted Living and Life Care of Cleveland for the care and love she was given.
