Obituary of Teresa Jean Bullock

Teresa Jean Shell Bullock, 88 of Kingsport TN passed from this life on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 following a brief illness. Jean was born March 29, 1925 in Corbin, KY and spent much of her formative years residing in Harlan, KY. She was a graduate of Harlan High School in the mid 1940's. She spent the majority of her life residing in TN. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers, and spending time with family and friends. Jean was a loving, kind and generous person who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bige Shell and second husband, Worley Bullock; her parents, Dr. James R. Hughes and Luna Smith Hughes; brother in law, E.C. Smith. Jean leaves to cherish her memory a sister, Kathryn Joyce Smith of Harlan, KY; brother, Dr. Herbert H. Hughes and wife Molly of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Belinda C. Smith of Loyall, KY and Carolyn Brown of Raleigh, NC; nephews, J.D. Smith and wife Peggy of Harlan, KY, Dr. Herbert M. Hughes and wife, Tammy of Alexandria, VA, Mark Hughes and wife, Susan of Charlotte, NC; a special family member, Jean Webb Shell of Gate City, VA; several great nieces and great nephews; four step-sons, Robert Bullock and wife Linda of Hamilton OH, David Bullock and wife Jane of Loveland, OH, Paul Bullock and wife Jenny of Trenton, OH, and Jim Bullock of Mason, OH; one step-daughter, Cathy Sue Plowman and husband, Fred of Fairfield, OH; along with other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2pm on Saturday May 11, 2013 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport. A service will be held at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ron Davis officiating. Graveside services will follow the funeral on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, TN. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill McConnell, J.D. Smith, Melvin Shell, Johnny Pyle, Chester Shell, Jr., Brian Thompson, Alvin Shoemaker. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Gideons International, Kingsport East Camp, P.O. Box 3217, Kingsport, TN 37664 or a charity on one's choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to special friends and caregivers, Alice Begley, Joan Catron, Doris Davis and Alvin Shoemaker.
