Obituary of Edith Faye Comer

Edith "Jo Jo" Comer, 67, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord late Monday evening, April 22, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Richland's, Virginia; she was a former resident of Chicago, Illinois and had lived in Kingsport since 1983. Ms. Comer was an active member of Weber City Church of God. She loved to read her Bible and loved working with her flowers. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and brother. Surviving are her sons, Tommy O'Quinn and wife, Julie and David O'Quinn and wife Sheri; grandchildren, Blake, Travis, Monica and Madison; great grandchildren, Emma and Jonah; sisters, Lou Shafer and Edie Sutherland; brothers, Blaine Sutherland and wife Kathy, Roy Sutherland and wife, Janice and Paul Sutherland and wife Shirley; half-sisters, Alice, Barbara, Belle and Janie; half-brother Emmitt; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bill Way, Portia Cress and Rick Hinkle and her loving cat, Tigger. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 pm Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Weber City Church of God, 198 Yuma Rd., Weber City, Virginia. A Celebration of life service will follow at the church with Pastor Raymond Hammonds officiating. Music will be provided by Portia Cress and Kim and Ronnie Absher. Ms. Comer's wishes were to be cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Weber City Church of God, 198 Yuma Rd., Weber City, Virginia, 24290. Carter-Trent Funeral Home downtown Kingsport is serving the Edith "Jo Jo" Comer family.
