Obituary of Franklin Delano Jones

Franklin D. Jones, 77 of Weber City, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. Frank was born in Clinchport, VA and lived his entire adult married life in Weber City. The Lord saved Frank in the summer of 1977. He worked at several places through the years having worked most of that time at Mason-Dixon Lines and later retired from AFG Glass Plant in Hawkins County. His loving wife of 56 years has been his sweetheart since she was 13 years old. He also had a special love for his only granddaughter, Megan. Frank was proud to have volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Mary Rhoton Jones of the Purchase Ridge Community in Scott County and his sister-in-law, Louise Jones. Frank is survived by his wife, Wilma Sloan Jones of the home; son, Terry K. Jones and wife Donna Arnold Jones of Kingsport; granddaughter, Megan Jones Hensley and husband Nathan of Kingsport; brothers, Glen Jones and wife Rhonda of Kingsport and Doyle "Earnest" Jones of Gate City; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Scott County Funeral Home, 2060 Hwy 23N, Weber City, VA. Friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jerry Hensley officiating. Music will be provided by the Hensley Family. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m. Pallbearers will be Nathan Hensley, Jeff Jones, Ruston Fannon, Randall Sloan, Michael Sloan and Keith Hammonds. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Arnold, Stanley Clendenin, Frank Gilliam and Howard Sloan. The family wishes to say a special thank you to Wilma's brother, Olen, who has prayed faithfully for Frank throughout his sickness.
