I miss my daddy. Jake cries for you often. You never even got to meet Samantha, your last granddaughter from me. There are so many things I never got to talk to you about. Things I needed you to know. Things are so difficult now. Mom is so alone. We put flowers on your grave every few weeks. Going to Mamaw's house is so hard for me, everyone wants to talk about you, and compare you to Jake. Chloe Mae tells all of your corny jokes, and says that Papaw taught me that. I am glad I spoke to you on my way to work that day, but I wish I had said more, I wish you knew how important you were to all of us, how you still are. I can't go to church without bawling. I wait 'til the kids go to sleep and grieve. It is so hard to act like everything is okay, when it feels so eerily different.-SMD
