Obituary of Emogene P. Mottern
Hebrews 13:5 Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.
Colonial Heights - Emogene Powers Mottern, born April 22, 1933, entered into peaceful rest on May 15, 2014 with loved ones at her side at Wilcox Hall in Kingsport, TN, following a brief illness.
Emogene lived a joyous and active life. She was retired from Eastman Kodak Company, attended Gray United Methodist Church, contributed and participated in various volunteer and charitable organizations where she gave her time and love serving others and enjoyed her numerous friends immensely. Her happiest moments were spent with her husband Gene working with their church family, making apple butter, traveling, walking, doing yard work and spending time with her family and friends. She kept a beautiful collection of African Violets and will be remembered for her commitment and love for her friends and family. She is greatly missed but greatly blessed as well to have lived the life she lived and experienced the love everyone in her life had to give her.
She is preceded in death by her husband whom she adored, Gene H. Mottern, parents, Ervin K. and Edna Cox Powers, and two sisters, Ruth P. Ford and Janice P. Vaughn.
She is survived by her niece and great-niece Paula and Bella Amador, brother-in-law Jack and Reba Mottern, nephew Tom Mottern and his wife Leslie and their children Scott and Rachel.
The family would like to thank Marie Cox for her support during this most difficult last week as well as the staff at Wilcox Hall, Wellmont Hospice, Dr. Kailash Bajaj with ETSU Family Physicians for their patience and guidance during this time and close family friends who provided support to the family throughout the week.
