Obituary of Robert Maultbay
Robert Charles "Curly" Maultbay, born November 3, 1925 to the late William and Lona Aesque Maultbay went home to be with the Lord (Thursday, June 12, 2014) that he has served for 65 years, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was self-employed and owner of M & M Aluminum. He and his wife, Wilma, were saved in May 1949 at Catron Chapel in Yuma. Robert sang with several quartets over the past 65 years, the last quartet being the Salley's Chapel Quartet. He was a member of Homeland Baptist Church. Curly proudly served his country having served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland and in Central Europe and fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, five sisters and two granddaughters.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Wilma Powers Maultbay of the home; four children, Ricky Maultbay & wife Annete of Kingsport, Beth Cole & husband Mike of Hilton Head, SC, Diane Jennings & David of Weber City, VA and Tim Maultbay & wife Christy of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Shane Maultbay, Josh Wininger, Casie Maultbay, Miranda Drake-Maultbay & husband Dustin and Anthony Salas Maultbay; a great granddaughter, Addyson Maultbay; four step-grandchildren, Riley Gordon Reagan Gordon, Jenny Rivers & husband Wes and Spence Cole; two step great granddaughters, Madison and Isabelle Rivers; sister in law, Gloria Maultbay. The Powers family thought of Curley as a brother rather than a Brother-in-Law.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm Saturday (June 14th, 2014) at Homeland Baptist Church, 2504 Hawaii Street, Kingsport or anytime at the home. A funeral service will follow in the church at 7 pm with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir and Damon Depew.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday (June 15th, 2014) at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport. Pallbearers will be Shane Maultbay, Josh Wininger, Anthony Salas Maultbay, Dustin Drake, Jake Maynard, Riley Gordon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Hackney, Dewey Flanary, Mack Lane, Roy Starnes, Grady Vaughn, Jan Nichols and Bill Weatherholt.
